Much as the typical game drives are only allowed during the day time, you will only find some of the best boat safaris in Africa .The lodges here have got the very best of the walking operations on the African continent, particularly that is to say, Beho Beho, Siwandu and Sand Rivers Selous. Fly camping trips including long walking safaris and very daring mobile camp set ups are also run by a number of safari operators. This is such an amazing venture for those clients that like to spend a night or two under the stars.

The Selous being a classic dry season park. The best time to visit is during the months of July to October as there are many animals that gather in this park. For the season you visit, the game gradually improves. Game viewing is only very good throughout the year and in particular areas.

The animals move away from the fertile feeding grounds during the months of January to February and this is the time for you to wisely choose your place of camping. Whilst, this is the perfect time for the best birding.

Beho Beho Camp

Owned by the Bailey family for over forty years, they are now prepared to share their ‘home in the bush’ with a fortunate few who are able to share their enjoyment of Beho Beho, one of their favourite places in the world. The main lodge consists of only 8 suites on each side.

Siwandu Camp

Broadly spaced along the lakeshore, Siwandu’s superbly appointed accommodation ensures maximum privacy and every opportunity to soak up the sights and sounds of the purest African bush. The ten spacious octagonal tents allows guests to observe animals as they saunter past.

Sand Rivers Selous

Sand Rivers Selous has just 8 stone and thatched cottages, all are open-fronted and raised on decks overlooking the river. There are five Riverside rooms – with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water, flush toilets and powerful showers – and three luxury Hillside Suites.

Kiba Point Selous

Kiba point is a totally exclusive little retreat in the heart of one of the most game-rich areas the Selous. It’s set back off the river, with only 4 large and open-fronted rooms. Bathrooms are bush deluxe, with flush toilets, indoor and outdoor showers and hot and cold water as and when you want.

Roho Ya Selous

The real magic of the Selous lies in the variety each day on safari brings. Whether you’re exploring on a game drive in search of leopard lurking in the shady boughs of a fig tree, or out on foot tracking wildlife that’s ventured close to camp during the night, this reserve is full of surprises.
